Jenny grew up on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, home of the world renowned Stornoway Black Pudding and Harris Tweed! The island's rich cultural heritage influenced Jenny's love for history, a passion which saw her go on to complete a BA (Hons) in History at Glasgow Caledonian University. In 2013, she combined her love for art, textiles and heritage by embarking on an MLitt in Art History: Dress and Textile Histories at the University of Glasgow, for which she received a Distinction. Before joining McTear's, Jenny worked with various organisations including the Harris Tweed Authority, the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, and Glasgow Museums. Since joining McTear's in November 2015, Jenny's knowledge of Scottish art has vastly expanded and she loves nothing more than valuing and researching pictures undertaken by the artists she wrote about during her Masters. Her research interests include Scottish women artists and nineteenth century dress and textiles, and she is always on the look out for a Glasgow Style artefact or a Paisley Shawl! Outwith McTear's, Jenny enjoys visiting museums and galleries, watching documentaries, baking and a little bit of yoga!
