Gold coins once again proved popular at this maiden auction of 2022, with sovereigns and krugerrands joining collections across the globe, while a selection of coin sets underwent some fierce competition in the saleroom too.
An Edward VII 1902 specimen set achieved a hammer price of £4,200, whilst an attractive 1980 Cayman Islands Gold Kings collection achieved £3,000, closely followed by the 1995 Britannia gold proof collection.
Entries are currently invited for the next auction of coins and banknotes, taking place 24 February.
Advice on selling coins and banknotes is free and without obligation. To discuss consigning to a McTear's auction, make an appointment to visit our Glasgow Galleries or contact a specialist by clicking this link and completing the short form.
