This auction saw some impressive hammer prices for beautiful banknotes and some interesting coin sets. One star lot of the day, lot 37, a National Bank of Scotland one hundred pound note, attracted much competition before the hammer fell at £1,600. Another impressive lot, a collection of One Hundred Great Inventions of Mankind, comprising sterling silver medallions by John Pinches went to its new home at £825. With gold coins continuing to prove popular, there was fierce competition in the room and online for krugerrands and sovereigns alike.
Entries are now invited for the next auction on 7 April. For a complimentary, no-obligation valuation, make an appointment to visit our Glasgow Galleries, or contact our specialists by clicking this link and completing the short form.
