On a glorious day in Glasgow, the public were welcomed back into the Galleries for the first auction with in-person room bidding this year. Customary with coins auctions, there was plenty of competition from the auction room audience, along with telephone and internet bidders from around the world..
This auction included a rare George VI 1937 specimen gold coin set that sold for £8,500 - for the reign of George VI, 1937 was the only year gold coins were minted, making this set a very special one.
McTear's is Scotland's only auction house to host a regular auction dedicated to Coins & Banknotes, the next one takes place on 10 June 2021. Entries are invited.
For a complimentary, no-obligation valuation, visit our Glasgow Galleries or contact our specialist Amy Cameron by clicking this link and completing the short form.
