This auction was a truly international affair, bringing together bidders from as far afield as Hong Kong, USA, Germany, and Holland, as well as UK based whisky enthusiasts to compete for some of the most desirable spirits on the planet.
Closed distillery bottlings have demonstrated that they are still high on everyone’s wish list, with the 30 year old 2002 release of the recently resurrected Brora distillery, and the Port Ellen 1979 first annual release leading the way achieving hammer prices of £1,500 and £2,200 respectively.
Rarely does an auction go by where fantastic Macallans don’t feature, and this auction was no exception. The miniature of the 1950 Fine & Rare 52 years old reached £1,500 with the older style Exceptional Cask bottlings also registering strong performances.
