December's Scottish Contemporary Art Auction started off the end of the year sales at McTear's with a bang, seeing mountains of fierce competition in the room, on the telephone, and all over the globe online. Jam-packed with just over 380 lots for sale, it is hard to pick out just a few stellar lots to mention.
There were successes throughout the catalogue with auction favourites such as lots by Jolomo, James Morrison, Peter Howson and John Bellany. Newer artists to the saleroom such as Clifford Hanley saw happy bidding and lively competition as well. The Sunday sale ended on a high note, with spectacular photographs by Glaswegian photographer Oscar Marzaroli all selling above estimate, and prints by American singer Bob Dylan from his Drawn Blank Series selling for hammer prices of £9,000 and £8,000 each.
The next Scottish Contemprary Art Auction will take place on 23rd January and entries are now invited. To consign to this auction, make an appointment to visit our Glasgow Galleries or contact our specialists by clicking this link and completing the short form.
