This March’s Scottish Contemporary Art Auction saw plenty of excitement in the saleroom with bidders in the room, on the telephone, and international bidders. High prices were achieved for lot by John Bellany, Peter Howson and David Shrigley, as well as Enid Foote Watts, Georgina McMaster and Marion Harvey. The stars of the Sunday sale were two original oils by Welsh artist Kerry Darlington, each getting knocked down for a hammer price of £6,500 and £9,500. The excitement continued right up until the last moments of the sale, with an artist’s proof print by Billy Connolly selling for £1,500.
McTear's is the only auction house to hold an auction dedicated to Scottish Contemporary Art. Entries are currently invited for the next Auction, taking place 17 April.
