An excellent private collection of model engines headlined the latest edition of Scotland’s only dedicated auction.
A good French agricultural model by Merlin & Cie. led the way at an impressive £2,600 and was immediately followed with a stationary mill engine by Vision Engineering Ltd realising £1,200.
Chess has rocketed in popularity thanks to its pandemic-safe nature as well as the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit and playing sets of quality are rabidly pursued. We were delighted to offer a particularly fine ‘Staunton’ pattern set by the best maker of them all, Jacques, which made the equally fine price of £1,500.
A superbly restored Austin J40 pedal car turned heads at £4,000 while private collections of Britains, haulage and The Lord of the Rings models proved popular with collectors.
