SAM TORRANCE'S 1987 RYDER CUP SLIP-OVER

SAM TORRANCE 1987 RYDER CUP SLIP-OVER,
with Glenmuir label, embroidered 'RYDER CUP, MUIRFIELD VILLAGE', mounted with plaque inscribed 'This Slip-Over Was Worn By Sam Torrance In Great Britain * Europe's Succesful Defence Of The Ryder Cup, Muirfield Village U.S.A., September 1987', framed and under glass, 85cm x 75cm overall, with signed photograph (of Torrance at the Ryder Cup 1985) and sheet to the reverse, inscribed to the photograph 'TO THE MAN WITH MY SWEATER, BEST WISHES SAM TORRANCE', and to the sheet 'Hope this will convince your friends, best wishes Bob Torrance'

Provenance: Purchased by the vendor at an Ayrshire sportsmans dinner in 1988, after which they sought authentification from Bob Torrance at Largs Routenburn Golf Course. Bob signed the sheet on the back and also got his son (Sam) to sign a photograph.

Note: The 27th Ryder Cup Matches were held 25-27th of September 1987 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The European team won their second consecutive competition by a score of 15 to 13 points in probably the most historic Ryder Cup. After an unbeaten record of 13–0 spanning sixty years, the U.S. team lost for the first time on home soil.
