JOHN McCLELLAND RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB LEAGUE CUP FINAL 1984/85 MATCH WORN HOME SHIRT,
no. 3
Note: Northern Irish International John McClelland signed for Rangers in 1981, making over 100 appearances for the club. When Derek Johnstone moved to Chelsea in the summer of 1983, John Greig made the decision to appoint McClelland as team captain, and the new skipper led the team to glory in the League Cup in March 1984 when Celtic were beaten in the Final thanks to an Ally McCoist hat-trick. The following season found McClelland embroiled in a dispute with the club, though he would still go on to win the League Cup again when the team beat Dundee United 1-0 in the final. This shirt was worn in that match. He was soon bought by Watford, having success with them south of the border, and eventually to Leeds United, with whom he would win the league in 1991-92.
