AN IMPRESSIVE VICTORIAN 'WESTMINSTER ABBEY' SKELETON CLOCK

VICTORIAN 'WESTMINSTER ABBEY' SKELETON CLOCK,
by Swinden & Son of Birmingham, with three train, triple fusee driven movement quarter-striking on eight bells and hour-striking on a coil, with repeater meachanism, the silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, lacquered brass case, with time-compensating mercury bob, on a later hardwood base mounted with original silvered presentation plaque inscribed 'Presented to GEORGE CLARK ESQUIRE by his EMPLOYEES HOME DEPARTMENT in recognition of his untiring energy and as a mark of their esteem and regard for him as their Employer, along with a Gold Albert for Mrs. Clark, 83 TITCHFIELD STREET, KILMARNOCK, 31 DEC 1880', 62cm high including base, with later glazed case, 74.5cm high overall

Note: George Clark Esquire was the owner of Clarks of Kilmarnock, a company who would later merge to form Saxone Shoes.

Condition Report

Clock is in generally good condition. Winds, ticks and chimes at time of testing. Surface wear including tarnish, perhaps most noticeably to chapter ring. There is a glazed cover for the clock. Moulding to base is loose in one section. Additional images including the cover now available.
The clock is lacquered brass, though some areas of tarnish present.
The clock (not including base) is 34.3cm wide, 54.2cm high, and approx 16cm deep

UPDATE: minor misshaping to hands of clock.
