Note: The SS Athenia, where this casket is possibly from, was a transatlantic passenger liner built in Glasgow, 1923, for the Donaldson Atlantic Line. She worked between the UK and Canada until 1939, when a torpedo from a German U-boat sank her. She was the first British ship sunk during WWII, with the incident accounting for the Donaldson Atlantic's greatest single loss of life, a total of 117 passengers and crew killed. The act was condemned as a war crime.
