Animal Instincts

08/10/2018     Jewellery

Cattle sales are one of the oldest auctions known to man where dairy cows are bought and sold between farmers in order for them to grow their herd. Cattle auctions are not something that you will find at McTear’s – not in the true sense of the word anyway. Lot 191 is a bar brooch in the form of a bull’s head with red gem set eyes. With an estimate of £130–£160, this could be one of the most unique cattle sales ever!

Another eye-catching animal related item is lot 161 which is a pendant in the form of a mounted stag’s head. Usually, something that you would find in the lobby of a hotel, mounted stags heads are becoming more popular – we even have our very own here at McTear’s!

The gold coloured stag’s head contrasts with the black hardstone mount which makes for a very unique and appealing piece of jewellery (estimate £350 - £450).
