Appetite for Monart lamp mushrooms

13/10/2018     Ceramics & Glass

A gorgeous Monart ‘Mushroom’ glass lamp and shade has far exceeded its estimate in the British & Continental Ceramics and Glass Auction on 11 October. The rare lamp was estimated at £300–500 and stood out on the viewing days in the lead up to the sale.  After competitive bidding, both in the room and online, the lamp sold for a staggering £1,400 to an online bidder in North East England.

With a mottled yellow and opaque body and pink swirl inclusions, the lamp stands at 37cm high complete with glass sticker to base. The lamp was consigned to auction by a Scottish vendor, close to where the origins of Monart began.
