The final online auction of the year of malt whiskies is underway, and whilst there are a number collectable bottles for the eagle-eyed investors, there is plenty of every day drinking malt whiskies for those more interested in sampling than saving. Bidding ends at 8pm on Thursday 4th of January, be sure to place your bids so you don’t miss out.

Whisky specialist Graeme Maxwell tells us about this exclusively online auction.

Pick your favourite lots in this sale.
As someone who enjoys comparing two similar bottlings side by side, Lot 26 gives you the opportunity to get two whiskies where you can do exactly that. The winner of this lot can compare how the official Longmorn aged 15 years from Pernod Ricard stands up next to an independent single cask Longmorn 1990 14 years old bottled by Dewar Rattray.  Estimated to sell for £50-£80, this will be a real bargain for the winning bidder.

The Tomatin Contrast in Lot 43, with an estimate of £50-£80, lets the winning bidder sample two Tomatin half bottles, both of which contain spirits distilled from 6 vintage years from 1973 to 2006. One vatting is matured purely in bourbon barrels, and the other in sherry casks. The perfect way to experience to contrasting characters of bourbon and sherry matured whisky.

For the autograph hunters out there, Lot 32 consists of two bottles of House of Commons 8 year old whisky, one signed by Russell Brown MP, and the other by ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair, and is expected to sell for £50-£80.
