The Zenith Chronometre

22/06/2018     Watches

The Swiss watchmaker Zenith are known for their very precise and often innovative movements. The company’s founder Georges Favre-Jacot is credited with the creation of the first chronograph pocket watch. Significantly he is also acknowledged as having the first watchmaking company to produce timepieces from start to finish in-house. During the twentieth century, the company produced onboard instruments for flights but it is their extremely precise wrist watch movements for which they are best known.

McTear’s watches auction has one such applauded watch at lot 751, a Zenith Chonometre 17 jewel movement wristwatch. Rare to auction, this timepiece is estimated at £3000–5000.
