McTear’s Watches Auction on 15 January bucked a longstanding trend, with the top-selling spot going to a lady’s wristwatch.

The pre-owned watches market is dominated by trade in gent’s timepieces but it was this lady’s gold Cartier Panthere that stole the show. Selling for £3100 including fees, this classic item was won by a commission bidder based in England.

The same buyer won lot 791, a gent’s Rolex Oyster Perpetual bi colour watch, which fetched £2200.
