Water of the Sea

11/07/2019     Jewellery

Aquamarine translates to ‘Water of the Sea’. It has traditionally been worn by sailors in the hope it would calm the waves and ensure them a safe passage on voyages. Another much loved theory is that mermaids’ tails were made from aquamarine, however this is yet to be proven!

Often formed within granite rocks, this beautiful blue stone is favoured for its light blue colour and is often paired with diamonds. Aquamarine is perfect for someone who wants to add a bit of colour to their collection without being too dark or striking.

Lot 69 in The Jewellery Auction on 17 July is an aquamarine and diamond ring (£600-900.) The pear shaped aquamarine is within a halo of round brilliant cut diamonds.

Lot 79 is a pair of aquamarine and diamond earrings (£1000 - £1500.) Thinking of a Mediterranean cruise? As well as completing any outfit, these stones are sure to protect you on your summer voyage!

Why not come along and see these items in person during one of or viewing days? Viewing commences on Monday the 15th of July at 12pm.
