Winter Sun

12/11/2019     Jewellery

When people think of diamonds, colourless diamonds tend to be what springs to mind. However there is a whole rainbow of fancy diamond colours, with yellow being one of the most common. Only 1 in 10,000 diamonds are of a fancy colour, making them very rare. They are often referred to as ‘canary’ diamonds as their colour resembles the brightly coloured feathered friend. Often associated with happiness, yellow diamonds are guaranteed to light up the room and bring a smile to everyone’s face.

The Jewellery Auction on the 20 November has not one but three lots of certificated yellow diamond jewellery. With variations in colour intensity, the items showcase the difference between diamonds on the yellow colour grade chart.

The maiden lot of the auction is a very impressive pair of yellow diamond earrings. Set with heart shaped diamonds to the post and pear shaped diamonds below, they are bordered by white round brilliant cut diamonds. Like looking at the sun, these diamonds have a warm yellow glow to them. Beware, your heart may flutter upon sight of these Fancy Yellow diamond earrings graded by WGI. Estimate £10,000 - £15,000.

If you like the thought of owning a yellow diamond but prefer a subtler tone, lot 61 is a yellow and white diamond ring. The oval diamond has been graded by the GIA as a Fancy Light Yellow diamond. This means that there is a subtle yellow glow to the stone but nothing too overpowering. Estimate £15,000 - £20,000.

The last item is lot 65, a yellow and white diamond ring. Graded by WGI, the marquise Fancy Yellow diamond is flanked by two heart shaped diamonds within a round brilliant cut diamond border. The warm yellow glow of this ring is enough to brighten up any winter’s day. Estimate £12,000 - £15,000.

Do these items sing to you like a sweet canary would? Viewing commences at 12pm on Monday the 18 November so why not come along and look at these items in person.
