Gold coins proved to be what everyone was hoping to snap up at McTear’s first auction post lockdown.
Lot 88, a 1980 gold proof coin set proved to be at the top of everyone’s wish list. After strong competition in the room and online, this sold for £3091 including fees.
Due to the recent spike in gold prices, lot 103, a gold ingot, also proved popular and attracted strong bids before reaching £2318 including buyer’s premium.
One of the more interesting items in the auction was lot 9, a gold and silver replica stamp set. As if it wasn’t expensive enough to buy a book of first class stamps, these precious metal examples reached £837 including buyer’s premium.
