Our December auction is proud to host a selection of the illustrious Diageo Manager’s Drams from each year, running from 2007 right up to 2023.
When United Distillers were first formed back in 1987 they came up with a morale boosting idea, a competition of sorts. Each distillery manager was tasked with picking their favourite casks, which then all went into a blind tasting. It was simple, the one that scored the highest won and was bottled at cask strength as that years Manager’s Dram.
When United Distillers became Diageo, this tradition was carried on. Although the selection process has changed slightly the idea remains the same, to showcase the best their distillery has to offer in the hope of winning the competition. These highly regarded bottles were only available to staff, in very limited numbers and were never put on general sale, making them extremely sought after by collectors and connoisseurs from outside the company.
Some highlights include the Caol Ila 12 Year Old from 2021 and the Dalwhinnie 12 Year Old from 2009. Both offering different characteristics from the norm of these two storied distilleries.
