Of the many highlights from the most recent Clocks, Musical & Scientific Instruments Auction (13 March), one of the best sellers was a Fender console guitar (lot 1119), selling for over triple its high estimate! The iconic name was always going to attract competition, ending up making a cool £700 on the day.
It wasn’t the only guitar to gather high bids however, with a 1975 Manuel Contreras classical guitar (lot 1132) selling for a hammer price of £660.
Musical instruments were well represented throughout the sale, with the highest seller (a Wheatstone 56 key concertina – lot 1174) achieving a whopping £2,200.
If any of those lots have managed to hit the right notes with you, be sure to come along to the next specialist auction on 5 June, where things certainly sell for more than a song!
