Full Steam Ahead for the Pop Culture Auction

Model trains, superheroes and fantasy icons will bring some fun and games to the autumn auction schedule.

Steaming into top spot is a magnificent model of the City of Truro steam locomotive. The 3 ½ gauge live steam train, in green and black Great Western Railway livery, is estimated to sell for £1,500 to £2,000 in the Heroes & Villains: Toys, Models & Pop Culture auction on Thursday 13 October.

Meanwhile, Batman is set to swoop into the auction in the form of a set of five signed collector’s posters, with an estimate of £600 to £1,000. Hailing from the George Clooney era of the caped crusader, the posters include autographs by Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chris O’Donnell, Uma Thurman and Alicia Silverstone.

With the rise and rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, interest in the original comics has never been higher. Recent pop culture auctions are seeing more examples of this artform, including the much sought after Silver Age editions. The Autumn auction is no exception, with a selection of X-Men, Fantastic Four and Avengers comics going under the hammer.

Fantasy fans won’t be disappointed either, with a selection of six Lord of the Rings limited edition pewter statues showcasing key scenes from the fantasy epic. The 30 cm high figures are listed at between £400 and £600.

The Heroes & Villains: Toys, Models & Pop Culture auction will take place on Thursday 13 October.
