Herbert Whone, born in Yorkshire in 1925, and moved  to Glasgow in 1955, where he was inspired by the city's changing fortunes and painted a series of notable canvases featuring the beauty of a city and surrounding areas in transition. McTear's has continually set auction records for Whone's artworks over the years, and the popularity of his artwork continues to climb.
